You play as both classic and modern Sonic both with their own unique moves and properties. The gameplay for Generations is an interesting combination of the classic 2D Sonic and the more modern Sonic Colors combination of 2D and 3D action. No matter your level of respect or disdain for that little blue rodent this is a game worth exploring. Its gameplay is simple but effective and its graphics and art charming. Sonic Generations regardless of how you feel about the franchise is a really good game. Yet even with my jaded sensibilities, I discovered a nostalgia and love for Sonic through this game that I didn’t know existed. Most of my good memories come from Sonic Adventure 2, so it has been a long time since I played a Sonic game for any real length of time.
Red Ring #5 As you’re chasing (but being attacked by) the airships and their drones, stay as close as you can to the right side until you pass the last Red Coin - it’s in the right-most lane.I don’t consider myself a Sonic fan and I really don’t have any nostalgia for the series as a whole. You’ll see Red Ring #4 to the right of a spiked-trap platform and in front of a grind-rail. Red Ring #4 After running up and grinding down the extremely tall building (how cool was that), continue on and stay on the top path.
Use the panels to wall-jump and collect it. After you pass the checkpoint, you’ll see the third Red Ring next to a wall in the air. Red Ring #3 After dodging the airship’s spiked barrels, you’ll eventually switch from behind-Sonic perspective to side-scrolling perspective. Take the speeder ahead to pass through both a checkpoint and the second Red Ring. Take that spring and use your homing attacks on the balloons ahead to stay on the top path (watch out for the blades!). Red Ring #2 When you arrive at the larger area, you should see a red-star spring right next to a fountain in the center of the area. Grind on it to collect the first Red Ring. Red Ring #1 In the first sprint, you’ll wind through a curvy path, but on the last left curve, a grind rail will show up. Continue climbing and you’ll see the last Red Ring to the left of a flying enemy. Use the yellow springs on the right side to propel you to some green platforms. Drop from this peg to the ground and head to the right. Red Ring #5 When you’re launched to the large clock area, you’ll grab onto a peg that you’ll swing from. Grab it before the drone lasers take you out. To snag it, use the green platforms to jump quickly up to the top and it’ll be on your left. Continue until you hit a red spring that launches you left and up to a new area. Red Ring #4 When you reach the outdoor area, take the lower path and continue for a while until you’re launched to a large architectural structure. Keep moving forward and you’ll see Red Ring #3. Gather up some momentum and jump to the backwards-L-shaped platform. Climb up to the ledge that a purple robot is guarding (a barrel will probably take care of him). Red Ring #3 After the indoor barrel chase, you’ll hit a checkpoint. If you fall, you’ll able to reach the Ring by jumping from the side.
Jump through the next red platforms (they fall) and you should be able to collect the next Red Ring. Your next target should be a green platform, so jump to that. Keep your momentum and jump from gondola to gondola. Get some speed and jump on the next gondola, but don’t linger on them. Red Ring #2 After climbing both spike-trap platforms, you’ll pass a checkpoint as you head left.
